Standard Window Distance From Floor

I thought that may be standard distance.
Standard window distance from floor. There are a few structural issues to consider when raising window height. If you are installing windows within 2 feet of a door and lower than 5 feet from the ground you need tempered glass in the windows even though these might be higher than 18 inches from the ground. This creates a pleasing visual experience. I am working on window height and placement for each rooms.
Set a window closer than 10 inches from the ceiling and odds are you ll have to raise the header up into the structure of the floor cavity or rafter space above called an upset header. If the windows are on an upper level it s recommended that you have 24 from the floor to the bottom of the window. I think in the bedrooms this is too low especially if a bed is against the window. But there could be issues related to the type of glass that you have in the windows.
If the window is on the first floor the recommendation is that the height of the window and the height of the door are the same. What is the standard window height from the floor. I am planning on 40 above the floor for the bedrooms. Does this sound reasonable considering i have 4.
Any windows in a door must have tempered glass no matter the height unless it is too small for a 3 inch ball to pass through the window. Remember still though that is just the rough opening then you have still have extra inches for window frame casing so the visible glass is not actually at 44 above the finished floor and i think lavender lass is on to something if what you don t like is the wall gap between backsplash and window.
