Stained Sub Floor

Sealant goes a long way to prevent future stains from setting in.
Stained sub floor. We did this for half the floor and i didn t notice a big difference. Concrete can also be covered with special subfloor panels such as dricore tiles to create a surface much like conventional plywood or osb subflooring. Paint the stained subfloor areas with kilz complete or zinsser b i n mildew resistant oil based primers and sealants that block odors and stains. Her she is all pre stained and ready to go.
Allow the paint to completely dry. Repeat the application after one hour. Your painted sub floor looks nice. It was stained heavily with both previous owner s pet stains old paint from years past and a bazillion staples etc.
But plywood or osb sub floors are not meant to be lived on that s why it s called a sub floor. If pet urine has reached your subfloor you ll be caught in a tough cycle where stains will resurface in your flooring and you will have to clean them. Thankfully my plywood sub floor was wood grade while not perfect by any means. If any stains bleed through after the second application re apply and let dry until you completely cover the stains.
Also the instructions said to put your stain down within 2 hours of the pre stain for best results. That also could be because we used such a dark stain. Subfloor sealing will help repel liquid not just the urine variety. I rolled on the stain because ain t nobody got time to brush it on.
When concrete is used as the finished flooring the slab surface typically is polished and sealed and can also be stained for custom color effects or even coated with a floor epoxy.
