Special Walnut Stain On Oak Floors

Since you added coffee to tone down the orange in your floors how do you think coffee might do as the primary stain color on red oak.

My question is should both 1st floor and garden level floors have the same color stain.

Another option would be to try a 50 50 mix with special walnut and dark walnut or special walnut and jacobean. You can see that this stain consistently pulls a brown hue with the exception of the red oak for obvious reasons.

Lighter shades like cherry and golden oak will accent the natural grains and beauty of a floor while still giving it some depth and color. My dilemma is what stain to go with. I would prefer a rich medium brown with the natural wood grain showing through. I am including several different pictures of the finished product which turned out even better than i had imagined.

After deliberating between jacobean dark walnut special walnut and provincial we finally settled on provincial as our favorite color stain. On that note red brown shaded stains like walnut and chestnut have a very warming homey effect in a home and are a very safe bet. The first thing that happened once we closed on our new house was to get the dingy ambered oak floors refinished and stained. The 1st floor oak flooring has english chestnut stain throughout kitchen living room dining room and smaller bed room.
