Slick waxed floors. Wood floors are not naturally slippery. Make sure you thoroughly wring out the mop before each pass on the floor to prevent excess liquid from pooling on the floor s surface. If the floor remains wet to the touch after mopping run a dry mop over it to absorb all excess liquid. Cleaning with a simple solution of warm water and mild dish soap will also keep the floor from getting a buildup of slippery cleaning solution on its surface.
Apply this solution using a soft mop and avoid flooding the wood. Using wax based cleaning products on linoleum may offer a high gloss to the floor but it also creates a slippery surface according to the floor critics. Step 1 clean your floor with a solution of one part vinegar to two parts water. Slippery wood floors are often caused by wax buildup or high gloss finishes.
Freshly applied floor wax can make wood floors slick so the best way to reduce the risk of slipping is to wait for any wax to dry.
