It may happen if you fall backward or get hurt while playing sports like skating and gymnastics. It is in cases like this that the pelvic floor muscles become tight which then pull on the tailbone and present as tailbone pain. The pain may be vague or localize to the rectum anus rear of the pelvis or tailbone.
